ARTIST INSPIRATION
Throughout the development of this piece I was able to research and learn about a variety of artist that had some of the characteristics that I had in mind for this project in particular. One of the first artist that inspired me was Alphonse Mucha, I was inspired by him by how his techniques of outlining and creating amazing artworks to just expose them as commercial posters. His mindset of what beauty and other concepts of the world look like and how he would apply it to his artwork, which got me inspired by how he combined the cartoonish artwork and fine art into the elaboration of his work. At the same time, Mucha is able to transmit a message with his work, with that I was inspired because I wanted that my painting/work had something to tell and through many Mucha ideas I was able to elaborate something that would have different types of perspectives that the viewer would take out of the work and at the same time how I was able to take part of ths project and make it my own to the extend to also transmit my emotions and views that I had on many different things.
ART MOVEMENT INSPIRATION
Art Nouveau
Throughout the development of this artwork, I was inspired by art Nouveau because of its illusion of beauty and different types of messages that contribute to society's view on advertisement of different things that seem to be valuable to people. At the same time, the portrayal of art throughout the different advertisements were a way to emphasize the beauty in art and how it was used to highlight the diverse perspectives that people had have throughout time. |
ARTWORK INSPIRATION
CULTURE INSPIRATION
Mayan Culture
By searching about what I wanted to for my project I encounter many cultures on which I had an interest in and at the same time they had a connection between my project as a whole and what I kind of wanted to portrait in it. So throughout my planning and research I found the Mayan culture on which I had an interest in because of how in this culture there is a believe and a connection with the moon, the sun, the starts, the constellations, and the whole universe. Therefore, the Mayans would use this to see in more detail the meaning of life, how the days went by and what they meant for them and how much this type of changes would change them as a person and the world around them. Also the connection that they had with nature, with their own people, and the universe as the days pass by just viewing and believing on the hiring meaning of the moon and the sun. |
PLANNING
Throughout the development of this piece I needed to mix up different paintings to majke different types of greens, reds, orages, and yellows that were part of the the first part that was elaborating the sun. For the second part I needed to elaborate purples and blues which would go in the moon part of my project. Throughout each development I change the colors of the face of the sun and as well the colors of the moon because either I didn't higlight the colors of the other parts in the canvas and as well it didn't go well with the blending parts that were done before.
SKETCHES
PROCESS
Throughout my process I first wantd to elaborate a two part work, which incorporated to canvas from the same size. at first I didn't know what I wanted to do, but throughout the research I was developing of the Mayan culture in particular and other inspirations as Mucha for my artist inspiration, as well for the art movement which was art Nouveau which led me to develop this particular piece. First I develop the sketches that were the point of my inpiration because they had to do with two parts, two parts that would go in the two canvaces that I would use. Second I elaborated the skecth of my final piece into the canvaces I had already created for this piece. Then I put out the colors that I wanted to mix and by the way I was going through the piece as a whole, I was elaborating and mixing different types of colors and blending them together to create each of the pats of either the moon and the sun and the specific details that I wanted to incorporate throughout the piece. Lastly I incorporated smooth and rough brush strokes in each of the different parts that I had to elaborate the application of the colors. As for the change of color to another, I needed to let it dry, and then apply the other color that in my opinion seem to go better in this artwork.
CHALLENGES AND ADVANTAGES
CHALLENGES:
One challenge was doing the circle of the sun, and the figure of the moon, which contain the lips and nose that were a little bit challenging for myself. Also repainting the faces because the colors didn't seem appiling to me and I reapainted both faces (the moon and the sun one) which was a little challenging because I didnt want to mess up the other things that I already had in the canvas. |
ADVANTAGES:
One of the advantages was elaborating the color by mixing them up having a good reponse to the blending in the part of the sun and in the moon as well. For the part of outlining the figures with color black, I thoughout I was going to do a aterrible job, but I was surprise that I was able to go in the line and didn't go out as much as I thought I would. The painting the little details was an easy part as well. |
THE MEANING BEHIND MY PIECE
The meaning behind my piece is the way people are able to go out of their comfort zone to create and achieve the things that once they were afraid to do, and by how time goes people are able to doit and find connections to what they were so afraid to do. Also how at the end they find that connection between either the thing that they were so impacient to do or a person in their lives which leads me to the title of my piece which is "The connection between us", which emphasizes in the connection that we are going to develop with the new experiences, people, and things that we are able to know, make and achieve in life.
REFLECTION
Throughout the development of this piece there were a variety of research base things that I had to do to develop this piece. As well as by elaborating the sketches give me a proportional idea of what I wanted to elaborate for this fourth project. Also the comments and inspiring ideas that I receive from others of how I could mix up nature, the space, and also apply to them the two different art movements and artist techniques that had catch my attention towards the development of this piece. By looking at examples of different artworks of other artist that develop an emphasis on nature and space which were either expressionistic or in a more realistic way. Therefore, by all the type of commentaties, research, and ideas I was able to create the idea that I wanted and develop the project which I ended up doing at the end of this whole process.

1. The relationship between my inspirations and my artwork, were the demonstration of the identity which were elaborated through each part of the piece. Which affect my piece to be more created with personal things and at the same time with things that show part of my culture and who I am, as how Mucha in his artwork.
2. The overall point of view by the authors from the elaborated research, were that they were trying to reflect on simple things as the sun and the moon. Which later they would give a more meaningful meaning, that would have different types of point of view depending on the things as culture, feelings, and characteristics that they wanted to show. So by it, regarding my inspiration, it shows how normal things as an sculpture or earrings can have multiple meanings base on the viewer and what the artist wanted to express.
3. The generalizations and conclusions that I discovered were, that people try to be more attach to their emotional and material things because they mean something important to them as time passes. Also by analyzing the inspirations that I choose, the ideas of a culture depends of how people view it and apply it in their life and show it to the world, as how Mucha did through in his paintings. They show part of who they were and part of their own culture.
4. My central idea for my inspirational research was the world culture, because I wanted to show the connection that we have with things and people. Also that how my main idea give me the interest to research about the customs, which are interesting and very creative demonstrating the amazing things that each of the cultures have in common and their uniqueness.
5. The conclusion that I reach base on reading the research that I elaborated this project, was that behind each of the development, for each of the artworks made by the artist (Mucha), there was a connection between both on them regarding their expressions. In the research, I encounter information that was related to each of the artists, that were about the inspirations, what they wanted to demonstrate, point of view, and art movements, which this characteristics from both.
